Fairfield Central is a bustling sub-regional shopping centre located in Idalia, just 7km from the Townsville CBD. Stage 1 opened in 2008, Stage 2 opened in November 2015, with Stage 3 recently completed in mid-2019 following major flooding and Stage 4 commenced in early 2019.
Appointed as Principal Contractor, Hansen Constructions NQ completed two packages as follows:
Fairfield Central Stage 4 – Construction of Fairfield Central Stage 4 and other associated works including preparation of Dilapidation Report, demolition of existing infrastructure, upgrade / widening of existing road including construction of temporary road, installation of stormwater infrastructure, kerb and channel, line marking, landscaping / irrigation works and upgrade of existing electrical infrastructure.
Lakeside Drive Roundabout Upgrade – Upgrade of Lakeside Drive Roundabout and other associated works including demolish existing infrastructure, rehabilitation works including pavement, stormwater infrastructure upgrades, kerb and channel, relocation of existing signage, line marking and landscaping works, ensuring that this infrastructure complied with Department of Transport and Main Roads technical standards.
Following extensive flooding in Townsville where significant damage occurred to Fairfield Central, Hansen Constructions NQ’s project team worked closely with the Clients to rectify damage to completed works to ensure the re-opening of Fairfield Central to the public.
